Advanced Training
Emergency preparedness is “not a one and done” function. Additional advanced training is offered throughout the year. After completing these four basic courses, it’s recommended to take the following supplemental training:
- ICS-300 (Classroom-based, register through NC TERMS)
- ICS-400 (Classroom-based, register through NC TERMS)
- ICS-703.b (Online)
- ICS-802.a (Online)

Additionally, the following FEMA courses are recommended for Ham Radio Operators:
- ICS-242.c (Online)
- ICS-315.a (Online)
- ICS-317.a (Online)
- ICS-706 (Online)
- ICS-951 (Online)
These on-line courses can be completed in two or three days with moderate commitment. The final exams are multiple-choice and consist of 25 to 35 questions in a Pass/Fail format.
